Green goods size abbreviations are used to quickly describe a plant’s container size, form, root type, or overall shape/grade. Here’s what you might see on our site:
Container & Gallon Sizes
- #1, #2, #3, #5, #7, #10, #15, #20, #25, etc. – Container size in gallons
- 1G, 2G, 3G, etc. – Another way to indicate gallon containers
Plant Form / Shape Codes
- CL – Clump / Multi-Stem
- TF – Tree Form in a Pot or Bag
- LB – Low Branch
- HB – High Branch
- LG – Low Graph
- HG – High Graph
- Specimen – Special shape/grade tree, often unique form
Tree & Shrub Sizing (Field-Grown / Larger Material)
- B&B / BB – Balled & Burlapped
- Wire Basket – Root ball wrapped in a wire basket
- BR – Bare Root
- Caliper (ex: 2", 2.5") – Trunk diameter, measured 6" above grade
- Height (ex: 5/6', 6/7') – Approximate plant height in feet
- Spread (ex: 18–24") – Width of the plant crown
Tray & Starter Material
- PLUG – Small starter plants
- CELL / 72CT / 128CT – Number of plants per tray
Additional Abbreviations from Great Lakes
- TF – Tree Form in Pot / Bag (used on larger containers)
- CL – Clump / Multi-Stem
- G – Grown at Great Lakes
These abbreviations help communicate plant size, growth form, and how it’s grown, so you can plan your project confidently.
On both the website and the PDF availabilities we have separate line items for the products we grew onsite at our West Olive Production yard. These items are typically priced differently from our “non G” items, or the items we buy in for re-distribution.
